At Garden Design we stand behind everything we sell. Here we explain, with no small print, what the guarantee covers, what it doesn't and how to claim it.
1. Legal guarantee: 3 years
All new products sold to private customers carry a 3-year legal guarantee from delivery, under Spanish consumer law (Real Decreto Legislativo 1/2007). Garden Design is responsible as the seller.
If a product has a manufacturing defect, we repair or replace it at no cost to you, including transport, labour and materials. If that isn't possible, we offer a price reduction or a refund. During the first two years the defect is presumed to have existed at delivery; in the third year we may ask for a technical inspection to confirm it.
2. Additional warranty by brand
Some of our brands extend the warranty beyond the legal guarantee on certain parts. These commercial warranties are added to the 3-year legal guarantee and never replace it. We always handle the claim for you: you never have to deal with the manufacturer directly. Brand warranties apply to domestic use and to the conditions in force on the date of purchase.
Hartman®
- 5 years functional warranty on chairs, tables, lounge benches and loungers (purchases from 1 January 2025).
- 2 years on cushions and parasols. Our 3-year legal guarantee still applies to these parts.
4 Seasons Outdoor® and Taste by 4 Seasons®
- 5 years on furniture frames.
- 10 years colour-fastness warranty on Hularo woven fibre.
- 3 years on weather-resistant cushions.
- The brand expressly excludes: natural greying of teak, rust from condensation or standing water, minimal shrinkage and colour loss of fabrics, stains or heat marks on ceramic and HPL tops, mould from incorrect covering, use of non-recommended cleaning products, and commercial or hospitality use.
Life Outdoor Living
- 3 years brand warranty, matching our legal guarantee.
Weber®
- From 2 to 15 years depending on model and part. For example, Spirit series: 10 years on cookbox and lid, 5 years on grates and 2 years on other parts. Q series: 5 years on cookbox and grates. Parts with less than 3 years are still covered by our 3-year legal guarantee.
- Weber excludes normal wear, surface rust and paint discolouration.
- We recommend registering your barbecue on the Weber website.
VONDOM®
- Warranty against material defects. It does not cover damage from transport, handling, storage, accidents, impacts or misuse. Period: our 3-year legal guarantee.
GLATZ®
- Our 3-year legal guarantee applies. As official distributors, we handle repairs and spare parts for your parasol with Glatz.
Other brands
- 3-year legal guarantee. If the brand offers an extension, it is shown on the product page.
3. What is covered
Manufacturing or material defects that prevent normal use of the product, for example:
- Frame or weld breakage without impact or overloading.
- Weave or rope that breaks or comes loose with normal use.
- Seams that open on cushions used normally.
- Parts missing or not fitting at delivery.
4. What is NOT covered
The following are not product defects: they are the normal behaviour of outdoor materials or are caused by use, weather or maintenance.
Fading and colour changes
All outdoor materials (fabrics, rope, synthetic fibres, powder coatings, wood and ceramics) lose colour intensity with sun, sea salt and rain. In the Canary Islands UV radiation is high all year round, so this happens faster. Not considered a defect: colours becoming lighter, differences in tone between more and less exposed pieces or areas, or the silver-grey patina that teak and acacia develop over time.
Normal wear and tear
Pilling on fabrics, cushions losing firmness or shape with use, rub marks, scratches and loss of shine.
Damp, mould and stains
Mould or odour on cushions stored wet or covered without ventilation, and stains from wine, oil, sun cream, resin, pollen, bird droppings or calima dust.
Sea salt and surface rust
Surface oxidation of screws or metal parts in salty environments where the recommended maintenance has not been carried out.
Natural materials
In teak, acacia, bamboo, kubu, stone or concrete, cracks, fissures, grain and tone changes are part of the nature of the material and give each piece its character. Concrete tables also need regular maintenance: see our concrete furniture care guide.
Lack of maintenance or unsuitable cleaning
Damage from solvents, bleach, pressure washers or scourers, or from not following the product's care instructions.
Misuse
Standing on furniture, sitting on arms or backrests, dragging, overloading or any use other than intended.
Accidents and heat
Knocks, falls, sharp objects and damage from fire or heat (barbecues, hot pans, cigarettes).
Wind and storms
Furniture or parasols blown over or broken by wind; parasols left open unattended, without the recommended base or weight, or in wind above the manufacturer's limit; hail or storm damage.
Third-party assembly or repairs
Modifications or repairs carried out by third parties, and damage from tightening fittings with power tools.
Differences from photos
Colour variations compared with photos or your screen. Warm or cool light also changes how fabric and frame colours look.
Items sold with stated defects
For display, outlet or special-price items, defects that were pointed out at the time of sale.
Professional use
For hospitality, holiday rentals or other professional use, each manufacturer's contract-use conditions apply. Please ask us before buying.
5. How to make a claim
Email info@garden-design.es, call +34 922 302 060 or visit our stores in Santa Úrsula or Las Chafiras. Please have ready:
- Your order number or invoice.
- Photos of the problem.
- A short description of what happened.
We recommend telling us as soon as you notice it. We will review the case, sometimes together with the manufacturer or through a technical visit. If it's covered, the solution costs you nothing. If it isn't, we'll explain why and, if you like, quote you for a repair.
6. Care tips to make your furniture last
- Store or cover cushions when not in use, and always let them dry before storing.
- Clean with lukewarm water and mild soap, using a soft cloth.
- Rinse off sea salt from time to time, especially near the coast.
- Close the parasol when it's windy.
